Five Year Legal Battle Ends in Not Guilty Verdict

From Attorney Ed Shaw:

After a 5 year legal battle and a two week jury trial, my client was found not guilty of a very serious felony charge. The client and their family were overjoyed to return to a normal life.

I would like to thank all of my staff, including Amanda Richardt, who provided critical help through the entire trial for their hard work and dedication.

The case exposed serious flaws in how Crow Wing County investigates these types of cases, and it is my hope that this county learns from this case and improves how these types of cases are handled.  My office will always stand up for the rule of law, and the rights of anyone accused of a crime to a fair process, no matter what they are accused of doing.

I am very pleased the jury delivered a not guilty verdict.

-Edward R. Shaw
